A fresh cup of coffee is a daily ritual that many look forward to first thing in the morning to kickstart their day, and everybody has their favourite. But imagine if your favourite coffee order gave us at Western Cape Blood Service an insight into your blood donor personality. Let’s take a fun look at your coffee choice and how it relates to your approach to giving blood.
First up, The Americano Coffee Donor
This donor arrives early, fills out their questionnaire without fuss and often makes sure their friends come along when they’re due to donate again. Our staff loves this donor because they arrive ready, hydrated and eager to save lives.
Next up, The Cappuccino Donor
Everyone’s favourite, the Cappuccino Donor, is warm and comforting. Reassuring nervous first-time donors, “It’s just a small pinch, not bad at all”. You can always depend on them.
The Double Espresso Donor
They’re at the clinic early, even before the Americano coffee donor. They have a clear purpose and will multitask in the chair, answering calls, sending WhatsApp messages, all while saving lives before work.
What about The Iced Coffee Donor
Making blood donation look super cool. Selfies while they donate are par for the course, and sharing their heroic deed on social media goes without saying. We love this donor because they make donating blood look good and will have all their followers hopefully doing the same.
The Latte Donor
This donor likes comfort, with a bit of style. They’re calm and treat blood donation like an outing with a purpose. They’ll be looking forward to their post donation treat and can often be heard saying to fellow donors, “Let’s grab a coffee after this”.
The Instant Coffee Donor (because who’s got time to brew).
This donor is low maintenance, knows what needs to be done when they arrive at the clinic and has that quiet hero energy. They don’t brag about saving lives; they show up when needed.
The Decaf Donor
This donor is calm, no hype required. They’re in the chair, sleeve rolled up, just quietly doing something good. They keep everyone at the clinic relaxed and get on with the job of saving lives like it’s no big deal.
And finally, The “I Don’t Drink Coffee” Donor
Tea drinkers and water lovers, they come prepared. The overachievers of the donor world, while the others are debating over almond milk or skinny lattes, they don’t need caffeine to get moving and save lives; they get on with it, making the whole process run smoothly.
So, whether you enjoy a strong espresso or a comforting cappuccino, or you skip the caffeine altogether, there’s always a place for you at the blood donation clinic. Every donor shows up in their own way and when you show up to donate blood, the outcome is all that matters: someone gets another chance at life, and that’s worth raising a cup to.
