We are very eager to know your perspectives about communication practices between clinical staff and WCBS Blood Banks. Access and complete the survey questionnaire via the survey link here and now, please. We need your feedback to facilitate change.
We are appealing to blood users to help us identify whether to pursue a digital system, such as the WhatsApp platform, to facilitate communication with Blood Banks. This system would reduce the need for follow-up phone calls to find out if cross-matched blood is ready, if a sample is valid, if a second sample is needed for a transfusion-naïve patient, or if group O emergency blood is available. Our goal is to ultimately improve customer satisfaction and expedite access to blood and blood products for patients in the Western Cape.
Currently, communication is primarily via telephone, and this survey seeks to assess satisfaction with this method, openness to alternative communication, barriers and benefits, as well as cost and operational efficiency of using a digital communications platform.
Instead of calling the Blood Bank, blood users would be able to send a message via the digital platform to enquire whether their patient’s crossmatch sample had been received and whether the blood or blood product is ready.
Survey participants are asked to enter their HPCSA or SANC registration number to confirm validity and remove duplicate responses in the survey. Please note that this information will be treated with strictest confidentiality as per our company’s POPIA policies.
Please feel free to also distribute the survey link by email, SMS or WhatsApp to your blood user colleagues in the Western Cape. We greatly value your feedback to be able to action change to your advantage.
