14 June is World Blood Donor Day, a global tribute to millions of voluntary unpaid blood donors who selflessly give others a second chance at life. It’s a day to say thank you to our donors and draw attention to the ongoing urgent need for safe, regular and voluntary blood donations.
This year’s campaign slogan, “Give blood, give hope: together we save lives”, highlights the life-changing impact blood donors have on those in need and the hope that they give with every donation. The campaign aims to raise public awareness about the critical need for blood and plasma and encourage both new and existing donors to donate regularly. It promotes the values of solidarity, compassion and community.
On Friday, 13 June, Public Relations Manager, Marike Carli, visited the Expresso Show studio to share the important message with South Africa. The main focus of World Blood Donor Day was on the youth to hear the call for blood donation.
We want to use this opportunity to once again thank each and every blood donor who saves lives through blood donation. You are the unsung heroes; giving hope to thousands of patients daily. We salute you!
